Barbie Broschart Cervoni, MS, RD, CDE, CDN

Barbie Broschart Cervoni has been a food lover since she was a little girl. She has frequented at restaurants since the age of two, her parents owned a restaurant, and loved to dine out so they took her everywhere. Needless to say, she always had a sophisticated pallete. With time, she also discovered the effect that food had on her body and mind which fascinated her.

Her passion for food, health and well-being sent Barbie to New York University to pursue her degree in nutrition. Barbie graduated from New York University with a Master’s in Science and a specialization in Nutrition and Food Studies in 2008.

Currently, she works part-time as a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator at The Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York. She counsels and educates children of all ages and their families about the concepts of healthy eating for management of obesity, diabetes, and other endocrine based disorders. She also acts as site coordinator for a pediatric obesity and diabetes prevention program called the ROAD (Reduce Obesity and Diabetes) study. She loves working with children and is currently a volunteer for the Let’s Move Campaign to prevent and fight childhood obesity. She is certified in adult weight management.

Barbie loves to write about food and nutrition. She spent two years as a copy editor and contributing writer to SkinnyintheCity.com, which is a nutrition lifestyle website dedicated to educating readers on the most up-to-date nutrition, fashion, and beauty information. Barbie has also contributed articles and interviews to ivillage.com, and mensfitness.com and is currently the newbrief editor for the Long Island Dietetic Association.

Barbie is also in private practice. She is passionate about guiding her patients to become the healthiest version of themselves. Barbie is a firm believer in providing her patients with practical advice and realistic strategies to reach their nutrition goals. She strongly believes in the mind and body connection and its effect on our health. She takes pride in nutrition counseling and enjoys watching her patients find balance and enhance their quality of life and longevity – while eating the foods they love.

Barbie lives in Long Island with her husband Domenic. She enjoys going for a run, Bikram yoga, wine listening to music, shopping and preparing tasty, yet nutritious meals.
